In May 2019, Checchi Consulting received a one-year extension of its contract for the implementation of the Security and Justice Sector Reform Project (SJSRP) in Guatemala. The SJSRP will continue to strengthen specialized prosecutors’ offices for corruption and extortion cases, improve inter-institutional cooperation to help reduce corruption, strengthen courts, and support the development of modern and transparent justice sector processes. In addition, the SJSRP will support the creation of a specialized prosecutor’s office to identify, investigate and prosecute networks involved in the trafficking of migrants.
